Reo Wananga

Te Oranga Te Reo Wananga – Rotorua 23-25 July

Every year the Te Oranga Reo Wananga gets bigger and better with increasing numbers of our students recognising both the personal and professional value that te reo has. This year, the wananga was held during July in the beautiful city of Rotorua at Apumoana Marae.

Over 50 students from all over the country had a fantastic weekend, coming together for whakawhanaungatanga and most importantly to improve and expand our use of te reo.  Not only did we partake in formal reo sessions, we made poi, played traditional games such as horohopu and ki o rahi, we even did zumba to Poi E! The weekend was an enormous success, with students at all levels of te reo, becoming more comfortable and confident in using reo in many different contexts.

Much thanks has to go to Dr Arihia Waaka who played a huge role in the organising of this year’s wananga.
