This publication is the first in a planned series of topic-based
discussion papers considering ethnicity data issues. It discusses
technical and practical issues that relate to the monitoring of Māori
health and ethnic inequalities in health over time.

Future of Rongoā Māori: Wellbeing and Sustainability (2009)
This research aims to examine the contribution of rongoā Māori to
indigenous wellbeing, and to identify issues for the ongoing
sustainability of traditional Māori healing in New Zealand.
He Tipu Harakeke: Recruitment of Māori in the Health and Disability Workforce (2008)
This report summarises factors that facilitate and hinder the recruitment of Māori in the health workforce. The
report also contains career profiles of Māori working in the health
sector or studying towards a health related qualification to showcase
potential career pathways for those wishing to enter a health
profession.
Hauora Māori Standards of Health IV: a study of the years 2000-2005 (2007)
The first three chapters situate the health statistics within the broader context, including the theoretical, demographic and socioeconomic contexts. This is followed by chapters on mortality, public hospitalisations, cancer and mental health.
This volume of Hauora also includes a number of topic-based chapters from invited authors, including chapters on cardiovascular disease; diabetes; respiratory disease; oral health; disability; sleep problems; occupational safety and health; health in prisons; and the National Primary Medical Care Survey.
Tatau Kahukura: Māori Health Chart Book (2006)
This report provides a picture of the health status of the Māori population compared to non-Māori. With the Māori population expected to grow by 20% between 2006 - 2021, Tatau Kahukura is an information tool for the health and disability sector, researchers, policymakers, funders – in fact anyone for whom reducing inequalities is a key goal.
Tauiwi general practitioners’ talk about Maori health: interpretative repertoires (2002)
This paper reports findings from a qualitative research project investigating how Tauiwi (non-Maori) general practitioners talk about Maori health.
