National Māori Tobacco Control Service

Ministry of Health

In November 2010, the Ministry of Health contracted Te ORA to develop the five year Strategic Plan for the National Māori Tobacco Service.

The final draft Strategic Plan was submitted to the Ministry of Health 20 May 2011. The Strategic Plan was a product of views, opinions and ideas from Maori (and non-Māori who service Māori) in the wider tobacco control sector, as well as ideas and opinions sourced from submissions throughout the MASC process. Information has also been taken from other individuals’ and organisations’ papers and research.

In June 2011, the Ministry of Health advised Te ORA that they will consider the final draft plan and make decisions about future services for Māori. Below, is the final plan that was submitted to the Ministry. The contract for the provision of this plan is now completed.
