Te Whatu Mentoring Service

Leadership Development

Te Whatu is Te ORA’s new mentoring service. The service provides a unique space for Māori medical practitioners to support one another.

The overarching goals of Te Whatu are to:

  • increase the number of Māori medical practitioners who undertake and complete specialist training
  • increase networks and collaborations between Māori medical practitioners

The purpose of Te Whatu is to contribute to a culture of:

  • Whanaungatanga – a community of Māori medical practitioners who can tautoko and awhi each other as they progress in their careers
  • Leadership Development – a community of Māori medical practitioners who support a culture of on-going learning and development.

Are you interested in being a Te Whatu mentee or mentor?
For both mentees and mentors, there are a lot of really positive reasons for participating in a mentoring programme, not least, the opportunities to increase your collegial support networks and to contribute to the development of Māori medical practitioner talent.

If you would like to find out or about Te Whatu and/or be a Te Whatu mentee or mentor please contact Te ORA: 0800 483 672 or teora@teora.maori.nz

Mentor training
The date and location of our next mentor train the trainer wānanga is yet be confirmed.  We will post an update soon, and contact directly those doctors who have already indicated their interest in attending.
